With a strong commitment to quality and CSR that started 16 years ago, La Cité Nantes Congress Centre has placed sustainability, health and wellness at the heart of its strategy. It was certified “Healthy Venue Bronze” last July, and is the only French convention centre to be so.

Health has become even more important after the global pandemic. There is now a strong focus on general health and well-being for the business events industry. In this regard, Healthy Venues are committed to providing healthy choices for all participants: the certification was developed by the World Obesity Federation to support delegates and staff in making healthier choices during conferences and events. Healthy Venues do have a competitive edge compared to their competitors because they care about the health of the world.
To achieve the rating, La Cité had to meet strict criteria around the promotion of healthy eating, physical activity and overall workplace health. Now you can rest asurred that it provides healthy and responsible catering practices, ranging from coffee breaks to meal menus; that it promotes physical activity with delegates being encouraged to walk to and within the building, thanks to its easy-to-navigate layout and central location in Nantes; and that it gives priority to stand-up meetings when possible, with a modular and multi-purpose space.
Denis Caille, General Manager at La Cité Nantes Congress Centre said: “I am proud of our “Healthy Venue” award which reflects the mindset and hospitality focus of the teams, making La Cité a unique place that combines health and wellness. I am looking forward to offering our clients healthier options and delivering greater event experiences in Nantes”.
It’s not the first time La Cité is demonstrating its commitment to sustainability and excellence. The venue has been ISO 20121 certified for some years now: it can offer guidance and best practice to help you manage your event and control its social, economic and environmental impact.
The Healthy Venues accreditation, in fact, completes a strong portfolio of other sustainable awards: La Cité has signed the Quality & Sustainability Charter of France Congress, and also achieved the AIPC ‘Gold” Quality Standard – it is the only French convention centre, among 30 across the world, to have this highest level of accomplishment in terms of process and customer services.
Last but not least, La Cité has received the Bureau Veritas label, as an assessment of the preventive measures associated with hygiene controls.
